Midnight ramblings

Ok.... so it's actually just after 1am, but at this hour who cares? Well... I do cause that means I get off work in about 6 hours. Yes.... I have Staff Duty again. And we all know what THAT means:

RANDOM THOUGHTS

First of all, for those of you non-military folks, the highest ranking enlisted person in a *normal* unit is the Command Sargeants Major (CSM) *note: There is a CSM of the Army, but only one, and has no direct contact with me.... * Well... my CSM decided that I was his bitch today. I should prbably back track a bit.
-rewind-
So I am the fundraising coordinator for the Winn Army Hosp. Holiday ball. Fun stuff. My CSM Decided that we would do a bake sale at the "Strategic Plannign Conference" that was today. (Lots of high ranking people from within the hopsital + Food = Money)So what does he do? Puts me, as the fundraising coordinator, in charge. The thing he neglected to realize was that I have Staff Duty Today.
-Fast Forward-
So I organize the bake sale. I stayed up half the night last night baking, and Reported for duty a 0600 to take the food and coffee to the conference before it started at 0730. (For those of you who don't know, Staff duty is from 0730-0730) Yeah... so I started my day an hour and a half early. Then, the CSM decided that I didn't need help... so I did it all myself.
That alone would not have been so bad, except the CSM Kept forgetting things at the hospital. I put 21 miles on the Hospital commanders van today, and the conference is just less than 2 miles from the hospital. I had to make NUMEROUS trips back and forth. So I was utterly exhausted when I finished at 1630 today. But could I go home? NO!!! Cause I have duty.
Thank GOD for good NCO's (non-commissioned officers.... Sergeants and above in the enlisted ranks) My Staff Duty NCO allowed me to go home for 4 hours and sleep. I only slept for about 2, but it made a world of difference. He is at home taking his turn now, and I am holding down the front desk of the hospital. Tired, with 6 hours to go.... but I guess a few good things came out of today.
1. Raised $200 for the Holiday ball
2. Kissed the CSM's Ass and got an "atta boy" from the Hospital Commander
3. Got to go home and SHOWER because my NCO Rocks

Alright.... I should go for now. I may write again later. Just had to share with you my hell-ish day!
Jenni----->Very sleepy
