Tribute to a Fallen Soldier
SPC Ryan Walker (30 Dec 1980 - 5 Jan 2006)
I come to everyone tonight with a heavy heart. One of the medics in my husbands unit was killed in Action yesterday. His name was SPC Ryan Walker. He was a Combat Medic in the US Army, and was just a few short days from coming home when his time ran out. He had recieved a Purple Heart in April 2005. He was a good person, and from what I know a damn fine medic. Please pray for him, his family, and for the rest of his unit, still in Iraq. It just goes to show that no matter how close they are to coming home, nothing is guarenteed.
Above Pictures taken in January 2005, as the unit prepared to deploy in support of OIF III
I would like to add an additional note to all of the other medics, and the fellow soldiers that are still in Iraq, or have just returned home. Thank you for what you do. I would be there with you, but the Army decided that I was better off here. Believe me I tried. Be safe, God Bless you, and we will see you all soon!

Bad things should never happen to good people. Life isn't fair sometimes, and that sucks. Glad we talked earlier, hope you feel better about the situation, and I'm stoked your hubby is coming home quite shortly.
I'm so sorry to hear that Jenni. I can barely read about these young guys without crying, whether I know them or not...
Deb,
I know that my husband has been a good friend of Ryan's for a while. I know that Ryan's family will be coming out for his tree dedication next month. I also think that the Medics from 1/76 are going to get together and go visit the family when they get leave over spring break. We all miss Ryan and we pray for his friends and family every day. I'm glad that my blog could reach someone in connection with them. Let them know that he was a great person (they already know, I'm sure) and that there wasn't a dry eye int he unit the day of his memorial in Iraq. My husband has many pictures of him and his friends. We are hoping to get them connected to his family soon. Thank you for seeing this, and God Bless all of you. He will be missed...
Jenni
